If you had told us back when we purchased the Options in Life building in Cupar that we would still be renovating it and not using it daily by summer of 2024, we would have never believed you. It is however, true.
We knew that renovating the old bank would be a big job but never as huge of an undertaking as what we have been faced with. We have repeatedly been surprised with delays and unexpected repairs being required throughout the building.
We could have spruced the building up as it was and got more use out of it sooner but all of our service users and their families have such high hopes for the space, that we didn’t want to take the easiest option.
Instead, we have been working tirelessly to get each space ready to open. We now have a fully working training kitchen, new toilets and kitchens, a finished activities room and IT suite and have almost completed the club house space in the basement. Anytime that we visit the building, there is ongoing work and this fills us with positivity that it will be ready soon. We have managed to use areas of the building at times, for activities, but not consistently as building works often mean no power and too much noise.
We are now confident that the first phase of the building will be ready to open soon and that our service users and their families and carers will be able to enjoy a new programme of activities from within the building.
